-1/13/2012 : Q Center Presents Rainbow Babies Playgroup for LGBTQ Families!

Q Center is excited to offer a brand new program designed specifically for LGBTQ parents and their children called Rainbow Babies Playgroup. Rainbow Babies is a twice weekly early childhood playgroup designed to facilitate social interaction between parents and children. Led by one of our most dedicated volunteers, Star Casimir, Rainbow Babies offers parents of children 0-3yrs a place to play, sing and meet new friends in a safe and supportive space.
A certified, professional nanny, Star studied at Northwest Nannies Institute after high school and was a nanny for a NW Portland family for three years. She is a loving “titi” (aunt in Spanish) to Asia Belle, 7yrs and Jett, 4yrs with whom she regularly has Wii Just Dance parties with. She has spent the last 11 years working in the apparel industry for such renowned companies as Nike, Adidas and Puma. She has been an active volunteer with the Q Center since last year and managed all of the events for our end of year giving campaign “Dream a Little Dream”. Additionally, Star organized the very successful Santa’s visit to the Q Center this past holiday season, which she is hoping to make an annual event.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring this type of family oriented programming to the Q Center! I think there is a growing need to support our LGBTQ families within the community by offering programs specific to their needs. It’s a great compliment to Storytime with Maria that is currently offered monthly.”
Rainbow Babies playgroup meets every tuesday & thursday morning from 9-11am at the Q Center beginning on Feb. 7th, 2012.
