Expanded Capacity=Expanded Impact (& more fun!)

It’s with excitement, gratitude and humility that we announce we will be on-boarding two new half-time staff members sometime later this month. We are excited to be in a strong position financially and organizationally and ready to expand our programs to meet the increasing demand. We feel humbled by you and the tremendous effort so many of you have put into helping us get here. There is so much to be grateful for!

The Program Manager will work with our volunteers and affinity groups, as well as manage and strengthen our Information and Referral program (I&R). The I&R program is a vital function of Q Center, as the demand for such services is significant. In 2015, Q Center received 7,300 phone calls and roughly 1,000 emails from community members seeking culturally competent services. We welcomed over 1,100 first-time visitors, and had 15,000 visits from LGTBQ and allied folks seeking support and community.

Our goal in the next year is to grow these three core programs to meet the needs of the community identified by you. Our new Program Manager will work to maintain and increase our database of over 300 statewide LGBTQ+ welcoming service providers and businesses like medical providers and restaurants.

They will be working with partner organizations to centralize and streamline the intake and referral process. This will strengthen Oregon and SW Washinton’s LGBTQ+ infrastructure and expand support, competency and capacity of any organization serving our communities.

Our Events Manager will be creating a variety of events to offer more opportunities for socializing and community building. The Events Manager will ensure a balance of programming appealing to the full diversity of our communities.* Personally, I can’t wait for cabaret sing-along nights to make a comeback and wouldn’t mind a sci-fi movie night now and then!
