We are so lucky to have the most wonderful volunteers at Q Center. They bring their passion and love for the LGBTQ community to their volunteer positions. It’s with their help that we are able to offer such a diverse range of relevant programming, keep things running smoothly while our doors are open 7 days a week.

At our community center location, we offer a number of multi-generational programs and services for the LGBTQ community. There are dozens of events and groups that meet here, some focused on specific topics and others aimed at fun social interactions. We are also committed to providing a safe space to support and celebrate LGBTQ diversity, visibility and community building and our volunteers are a huge part of our success in accomplishing this. Q Center is located at 4115 N Mississippi Avenue.
Q Center Reception Desk & Resource Team
Q Center is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our community center hours are Monday – Friday from 11:00am to 9:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 9:00pm and there are day, evening and weekend shifts available.
The Reception Desk is the first point of contact for people interacting with Q Center, whether in person or by phone. Volunteers are responsible for providing a welcoming environment for our visitors and callers. You will also be responsible for providing information and resources to our clients in regard to mental health professionals, trans friendly doctors, etc. using database software iCarol. This position requires a volunteer who is outgoing, loves being around people and has above average customer service skills. A high degree of professionalism and flexibility is also required as well as the ability to lift and move 20-30lbs (chairs and tables for events). You will be responsible for answering Q Center’s main phone line and directing calls to the appropriate party, welcoming and directing visitors, setting up Q Center’s space for our daily events, groups and rentals and you will also be trained to operate our A/V equipment which gets used for meetings, events, etc. Additional tasks will be assigned as needed.

Your application will be reviewed by our Volunteer Manager and an interview will be conducted by phone. After successful completion General Orientation and Bridge 13 training, Suitable candidates will then have their references checked.Once these steps have been successfully completed, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Manager to schedule further training in your chosen volunteer area and to place you on the volunteer schedule!
