Q Center takes great pride in our Library and private Reading Room. Our Library is a wonderful resource for anyone interested in reading or studying LGBTQ-relevant literature or just looking for a quiet respite.
Our books are separated into two collections:
Q Center’s Transgender Reference Library is one of the largest collection of trans-specific titles in the state of Oregon. It was developed in 2004 by the Trans/Identity Resource Centre, a program of Outside In and was funded by a grant from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Northwest Region or (NNLM/PNR).
The collection includes books and transgender resources touching on spirituality, youth, medical issues, legal issues and psychology, as well as videos of fiction, biographies and autobiographies. This collection is a moving testament to the hard work of several librarians, community activists, Outside In staff and PSU researchers–and Q Center is proud to provide it a home.
The Transgender Reference Library is cataloged online and is searchable above.
Q Center’s “Circulating Collection” is a stellar source of old and new fiction & non-fiction as well as academic tomes. With over a thousand titles (donations always accepted!), these books help round out our Library collection as one of the most thorough resources that Q Center has to offer. This collection is in the process of becoming a full lending library. In the interim, we’ll keep the quotes around the title.
The “Circulating Collection” is cataloged online and is searchable HERE.
