Q Center Community Guidelines

Q Center is a community space grounded in dignity, care, and liberation. Everyone who enters this space shares responsibility for creating an environment where people, especially those most impacted by harm and marginalization, can show up as their full selves.

We ask all community members, facilitators, guests, and partners to engage with the following shared agreements:

  • Witness deeply. Listen with the intention to understand, not to respond. Seek understanding before seeking to be understood.

  • Be mindful of impact. Pay attention to how your words, actions, and body language may affect others, even when harm is unintentional.

  • Embrace discomfort as part of learning. Discomfort can be a signal for growth. We invite curiosity, reflection, and accountability rather than defensiveness.

  • Honor collective wisdom. Everyone brings lived experience, knowledge, and insight. No single voice holds all the truth.

  • Protect confidentiality. Share learnings, not other people’s personal stories or lived experiences.

  • Respect non-disclosure. No one is ever required to share personal information, identity, or experiences.

  • Uphold one another’s humanity. Engage with care, compassion, and respect, even in moments of disagreement.

  • Assume care, address impact. Choose to believe people are doing their best while also naming harm and tending to its impact in ways that feel safe and appropriate to you.

  • Make room for mistakes and repair. We all make mistakes. Accountability, reflection, and repair are expected and valued.

  • Honor access needs. Share your access needs when you are able, and respect and accommodate the needs of others without judgment.

  • Respect personal truths. Each person’s lived experience is their own. We do not debate or invalidate someone else’s reality.

  • Co-create safety. Safety is not passive; it is built together through intention, care, and accountability.

  • Expect conflict and possibility. Conflict may arise and can be generative when approached with care, consent, and respect.

Our Commitment to Justice and Accountability

Q Center is a safe and sacred space rooted in liberation. We are unwavering in our commitment to confronting and dismantling harm.

Racism, anti-Blackness, white supremacy, transphobia, gender-based violence, xenophobia, classism, ageism, ableism, and all forms of oppression are not welcome here, whether expressed overtly or subtly.

We center Black, Indigenous, trans, disabled, immigrant, and other marginalized communities and will take action when harm occurs.

Upholding these values may include direct intervention, accountability processes, or removal from the space when necessary. Safety, dignity, and liberation are not negotiable. They are the foundation of everything we do - together.
