Keep the Spotlight On
About
Keep the Spotlight On – Stage & Performance Series
A recurring monthly performance series that centers queer artistry, joy, and live expression through open mics, drag performances, drag bingo, and rotating community showcases. This program creates a consistent, welcoming stage for both emerging and established queer performers, with a focus on visibility, accessibility, and fair compensation.
Each event is designed not just as entertainment, but as cultural infrastructure, building a sustainable ecosystem where queer performers are supported with stipends, professional-grade sound and lighting, and technical production assistance that many grassroots artists are typically excluded from.
By removing financial and logistical barriers to participation, Keep the Spotlight On ensures that performance opportunities are not limited to those with existing resources or industry access. Instead, it actively cultivates a pipeline for new talent, especially from LGBTQIA2S+ communities that are often underrepresented in traditional arts spaces.
Core goals include:
-
Providing paid performance opportunities for queer artists and entertainers
-
Offering reliable stipends to recognize creative labor and time
-
Ensuring high-quality sound, staging, and production support at every event
-
Creating recurring, predictable space for community expression and connection
-
Supporting emerging artists in building confidence, audience, and professional experience
-
Strengthening queer nightlife and cultural visibility in a community-centered setting
Queer Open Mic Nights
Held on the first Saturday of every month, Queer Open Mic is a space to share your talents, your stories, and your authentic self in community. Whether you're a poet, musician, comedian, storyteller, drag artist, or trying the stage for the first time, all forms of creative expression are welcome.
In a time when queer voices are too often challenged, silenced, or erased, gathering together to create is an act of joy, resilience, and visibility. Your words matter. Your experiences matter. Your art matters.
Join us for an evening of connection, creativity, and celebration as we uplift the diverse voices that make our community vibrant and strong.
