Director of Development
(Limited duration w/ potential for FTE)
Position Type: Part-Time Employee (20-25 hours/week)
Compensation: $5,000/mo (or $45,000 for 9 months)
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Q Center (4115 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97217)

Position Overview
The Part-Time Director of Development will lead and execute high-impact fundraising efforts, with a core focus on building corporate sponsorships and partnerships through a "Standing on Business" strategy. This includes driving gala revenue growth and securing underwriting, while also optimizing event-based fundraising to maximize overall development impact.
Core Responsibilities
1. Corporate & Business Partnerships

Develop and launch a tiered corporate sponsorship program

Identify and prospect 30–50 aligned local/regional businesses

Secure sponsorships for gala
-
Cultivate ongoing partnership opportunities
-
Build equity-centered partnership messaging
2. Gala & Fundraising Events
-
Create and execute a revenue plan that secures 60–70% of gala revenue prior to event night
-
Structure underwriting opportunities and sponsorship packages
-
Support live appeal strategy and donor segmentation
-
Optimize table sales strategy for board execution
3. Donor Stewardship & Retention

Implement consistent acknowledgement system that can be assigned to a volunteer

Generate new individual and corporate donors
-
Design quarterly donor touchpoints
-
Develop impact messaging aligned with Q Center’s mission and equity values
4. Board Engagement (Light Activation)

Provide one focused board training on relationship-based fundraising
-
Create simple introduction tools for board members
-
Support board members in making warm introductions (not cold asks)

Success in this role will be measured by:

New Individual and Corporate sponsorship revenue secured

Gala revenue growth and underwriting secured in advance

Clear, replicable fundraising systems built
Qualifications
-
5+ years of fundraising experience with demonstrated revenue results in the greater Portland, OR area
-
Has successfully secured corporate sponsorships
-
Understands event-based fundraising strategy

Skilled in relationship-based donor cultivation

Can build structure without building bureaucracy

Has experience working in or alongside 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities (strongly preferred)

Brings a racial and gender equity lens to partnership development
