PIM implementation time and team workload differences

I’ve been thinking about how much time and effort it actually takes to launch a PIM system, because our team is already quite overloaded. While reading about different options, I came across https://piminto.com/piminto-vs-akeneo-the-smart-alternative-for-growing-businesses and tried to understand how implementation works in practice. The page is divided into sections about features, pricing, and especially timelines, which caught my attention. It mentions that some systems can take several months to fully set up, especially when customization and integrations are involved. That part made me hesitate, since we don’t really have a dedicated technical team. I’m wondering if choosing something simpler would save us time or create limitations later. Did anyone else worry about this before deciding?

We had a similar concern when deciding how much time we could realistically spend on implementation. From that comparison, I remember the part about how some platforms are designed for quicker onboarding with built-in tools, while others rely more on configuration and external setup. There was also mention of how collaboration features and automation can already be included, which reduces manual work later. For us, the key question was whether we needed deep customization or just a stable system that works out of the box. We realized that long implementation can delay other parts of the business, like launching new products. That shifted our focus more toward efficiency rather than maximum flexibility. It’s a trade-off that depends a lot on your current stage.
